NASA Administrator Bill Nelson to Visit India, Strengthening Space Collaboration and Earth Science Initiatives

NASA Administrator Bill Nelson is embarking on a significant visit to India and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), commencing a series of high-level meetings with key government officials from Monday, Nov. 27. This trip aims to reinforce bilateral cooperation in innovative ventures, particularly focusing on human exploration and Earth science collaborations. The visit to India resonates with the commitment of the United States and India to explore Critical and Emerging Technology, championed by President Joe Biden. Nelson's itinerary includes visits to several sites in India, notably the Bengaluru-based facilities hosting the NISAR spacecraft. NISAR, a joint venture between NASA and the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO), is currently undergoing rigorous testing and integration for its planned launch in 2024. NISAR, an abbreviation for NASA ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar, marks the maiden satellite mission between the two space agencies. As an instrumental Earth-observing instrument within the Earth System Observatory, NISAR represents a groundbreaking advancement. It is poised to meticulously measure changes in Earth's ecosystems, surfaces, and ice masses.
