Uttarkashi Tunnel Crisis: Ongoing Efforts in Rescue Operations as Drilling Resumes

In the continuing rescue operations at the construction-impaired Uttarkashi tunnel where a mishap occurred on the day of Diwali, trapping 41 laborers, efforts to extricate them have extended into the 10th day. Regular updates on the situation can be followed closely here... The drilling process using the auger machine has recommenced within the Silkyara tunnel. Approximately 34 meters of drilling have been completed thus far. Previously, pipes measuring 900 mm in diameter were inserted up to 22 meters. Within these pipes, there have been placements of 820 mm diameter pipes spanning 12 meters. If progress continues unimpeded, there is optimism about the pipes being fully interconnected by this evening. The government, under CM Dhami's leadership, is striving relentlessly to evacuate the workers from the tunnel by deploying six-inch diameter pipes to facilitate the provision of both food and other necessary supplies to the workers. The honorable Prime Minister has provided guidance and support in this critical endeavor. Our government is dedicated to exhausting all possible means to ensure the safe extraction of all the laborers. Additionally, the first video footage of the workers trapped in the Uttarkashi tunnel has surfaced—watch how they are faring.
